Temple History

Located on the banks of the River Ajay, the Mangal Chandi Sahktipeeth is about 20km from Guskara Station. Locals believe that this holy place was the primary setting of the Chandi Mangal Kavya, composed by the revered 16th-century Bengali Poet Kavikankan Mukundaram Chakrabarti. Goddess Sati resides in this temple in her ten-armed Durga form; therefore, Durgapuja and Chaitra Navaratri hold prime places in its festival calendar. Other significant festivals worth noting are Kali Puja and Maha Shivratri.
