• Pancha Guri (also known as Panchavarna Guri) refers to the five-coloured sacred powders used to sanctify and decorate the ritual space. According to the uncompromising rules of the Purohit Darpan, these powders are essential for Sthan-shuddhi (purification of the place). Before any major worship can begin, the Purohit Darpan mandates that the area must be cleaned, smeared with cow dung, and decorated with these five colours to make the space look as clear and reflective as a mirror (darpanodar). This aesthetic and spiritual adornment is required to invite the presence of the deity. 
• Pancha Guri is used to draw complex geometric diagrams on the ground, such as the Sarvatobhadra Mandala. These diagrams serve as the spiritual anchor for the deity during high-level Vedic ceremonies. The powders are often used to draw a sacred square or pattern beneath the Kalash (Holy Pot) to stabilize and sanctify its foundation.
