Temple History
The history of Pahareswar Shiva Temple in Dubrajpur (Birbhum) is tied to the ancient granite rocks of Mama Bhagne Pahar. One popular legend suggests Lord Rama accidentally dropped these stones from his aerial chariot while transporting them to build a bridge to Lanka. Another tradition says the divine architect Viswakarma gathered the boulders to build a "second Kasi" in a single night at Lord Shiva’s command. Geologically, the site is an extension of the Chotonagpur Plateau.
