Basanti Puja Kit

  • Basanti Puja is performed to seek the blessings of Maa Durga for strength, protection, and prosperity. It removes obstacles and negative energies and brings peace, happiness, success, and divine grace into life.

  • Basanti Puja is the vibrant, original springtime celebration of Goddess Durga. Worshipping the ten-armed Mother Goddess during the spring (Vasant Navratri) brings unshakeable inner strength, absolute protection for the family, and the joyous renewal of prosperity. A central, magnificent feature of her worship is the Mahasnan (The Great Bath), which utilizes highly specific elements from all over the earth—like the Sapta Jal (7 waters), Pancha Kashaya (5 barks), and Saptamrittika (7 soils)—symbolizing that the entire universe and nature itself is bowing down to wash the feet of the Divine Mother!
  • Basanti Puja is performed to celebrate the original springtime worship of Goddess Durga, invite her supreme protection, and welcome seasonal renewal. It is suitable for both the grand spring festival and special devotional moments dedicated to the Divine Mother.
  • • During the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the Bengali month of Choitro
  • • On the highly auspicious lunar days of Saptami, Ashtami (Basantyashtami), and Nabami
  • • Daily Goddess Durga worship during Vasant Navratri
  • • Home mandir installation or Devi Ghat Sthapan (sacred pot establishment)
  • • Any moment seeking the Mother Goddess's protection, courage, and divine grace for the new year!
  • Step 1 - Gandha (Sacred Paste): Lovingly apply the Red/White ChandanAshtagandhaKasturi, and the fragrant Java Kusum Oil to the Goddess while chanting: "Om Gandhang Namah".
  • Step 2 - Pushpa (Flowers & Sringar): Offer fresh flowers, the Siddhi Leaves, the Shankha Pola Set, the Chandmala, and the Wooden Darpan (Mirror) to reflect her glorious form while chanting: "Om Pushpang Baushat".
  • Step 3 - Dhupa (Incense): Burn the fierce, purifying Dhuna and Guggal powder over the Chhobra to completely obliterate negative entities from the home while chanting: "Om Dhupang Namah".
  • Step 4 - Deepa (Illumination): Light your lamps using the Cotton WicksMustard Oil, and Cow Ghee to guide the Mother's radiant light into your home while chanting: "Om Deepang Namah".
  • Step 5 - Naivedya (Food Offering): Offer home-cooked sweet foods and seasonal fruits as a gesture of deep gratitude while chanting: "Om Naivedyang Nivedayami".
  • Steps 1-5 (Welcome, Boundaries & Purification): The Pandit purifies the home using the Ganga JalGau Mutra, and Kusha Grass. He establishes the sacred altar boundary (Ghat) using the Teer KathiGanga Mitti, and Tekaata, formally offering a Seat (Asan), Welcome (Swagat), water for washing feet (Padya), a sacred offering (Arghya), and water for sipping (Achamaniya).
  • Steps 6-9 (Madhuparka, Mahasnan & Royal Adornment): The priest absolutely must offer the 6th-step sweet mixture (Madhuparka) in the beautiful Madhu Parker Bati using your included Pure Honey. Then comes the grand Mahasnan (The Great Bath) where the Goddess's reflection in the Darpan is bathed using the SaptamrittikaSapta JalPancha Kashaya, and Sarbausadhi herbs. She is then draped in the Red Cheli Cloth (Basan), and majestically adorned with the Shankha Pola and Chandmala (Abharan).
  • Steps 10-15 (The Grand Offerings): The deity is offered rich fragrances like Aguru and Kasturi (Gandha), flowers and Siddhi Leaves (Pushpa). She is then offered fierce purifying incense (Dhupa), glowing ghee lamps (Deepa), and a grand food offering (Naivedya).
  • Step 16 (The Complete Tambula): According to the strict rules of the Purohit Darpan, a 16-step royal worship is invalid without Tambula. The Pandit concludes the offerings by presenting the scripturally mandated Supari, Haritaki, Clove, and Cardamom to sweeten the Mother's mouth.
  • Conclusion (Aarti & Havan): The ceremony concludes with a grand Aarti using the Pure Camphor and the Chawar fan. Finally, a massive fire ritual (Agnihotra) is performed using the Bel KathJoggo Dumur Pata, and Havan Samagri to permanently seal the fierce protection into the home!
  • • Springtime Renewal & Prosperity: Basanti Puja is the original, ancient worship of Goddess Durga performed during the vibrant spring season (Vasant Navratri). Worshipping the Mother Goddess during this time brings a profound renewal of health, unshakeable inner strength, and fresh financial prosperity to the family.
  • • Absolute Protection: Establishing the sacred water pot with the Teer Kathi (Boundary Sticks) and Ganga Mitticreates an impenetrable energetic fortress around the household, keeping away evil eyes, diseases, and misfortune.
  • • Complete Cosmic Purification: The extraordinary elements used in the Goddess's Mahasnan (Great Bath)—such as the Saptamrittika (Seven Soils) and Pancha Kashaya (Five Sacred Barks)—draw on the purest, most powerful botanical and earthly energies, fundamentally cleansing the physical and spiritual atmosphere of your home.
  • The MySanatan Basanti Puja Kit is the most breathtakingly comprehensive package ever designed to invoke the supreme power of the Divine Mother during her original springtime festival! We understand that to truly host the ten-armed Goddess, your offerings must represent the very essence of the universe. That is why we have carefully sourced incredibly rare, scripturally mandated elements like the SaptamrittikaPancha KashayaSarbausadhi, and Sapta Jal required for her authentic Mahasnan. Furthermore, by specifically including the Madhu Parker Bati for the 6th step and the precise spices (Supari, Haritaki, Clove, Cardamom) strictly required for the 16th-step Tambula—which is absolutely mandated by the classical Purohit Darpan—we ensure your home is flawlessly prepared for the ultimate celebration of victory and divine grace!

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Q1: The kit includes "Saptamrittika" (Seven Sacred Soils) for the Mahasnan. Where exactly do these soils come from?
  • For Families & Cultural Enthusiasts: In grand Shakta worship, the Goddess's bath represents the entire earth bowing down to her! According to the Purohit Darpan, these seven soils must be gathered from incredibly specific, powerful locations: a horse stable, an elephant stable, an anthill, a river confluence, a deep lake, a cow pen (Gokul), and a royal gate or courtyard. Offering this blend ensures that the highest energies of nature and society are utilized to welcome the Mother!
  • Q2: We are planning musical performances for our spring Basanti Puja. Can we play the flute for the Goddess?
  • For Devotees & Event Organizers: You must strictly avoid the flute! The Purohit Darpan contains a highly specific list of Prohibited Instruments (Nishiddha Vadya) for different deities. The text explicitly mandates that playing the flute (Bangshibadyam) is strictly forbidden in the temple or presence of Goddess Durga. To properly honor her fierce and majestic form, you should stick to traditional drums, conches, and bells!
  • Q3: What is "Pancha Kashaya" and how does the priest use it?
  • For Priests & Scholars: The Pancha Kashayaconsists of the barks from five highly specific sacred trees! According to the classical rules of the Purohit Darpan, these barks must be sourced from the Jam, Shimul, Bhela, Kul, and Bakul trees. During the Mahasnan, these barks are soaked in water to create a purifying, astringent botanical essence that is poured over the Goddess's reflection to spiritually cleanse and cool her divine form.
  • Q4: I have plenty of fresh Durva grass in my garden. Should I offer it to Goddess Basanti?
  • For Beginners & Home Ritualists: You must not! The classical texts provide incredibly strict prohibitions regarding which leaves can be offered to which deity. The Purohit Darpan explicitly quotes the rule: "na dūrvayā yajeddurgāṃ", which translates to: "One must never worship Goddess Durga using Durva grass". Instead, you should use the beautiful red flowers, the provided Siddhi Leaves, and the sacred pastes to perfectly honor her!
  • Q5: After the puja is completely finished, what should I do with the leftover flowers that were offered to the Goddess?
  • For Experienced Practitioners: These highly sacred remnants are known as Nirmalya. According to the Purohit Darpan, you must never simply throw them away or treat them as regular waste! A devoted worshipper should respectfully touch or place the Nirmalya on their head and body. The text declares that wearing the remnants of the Goddess's offerings acts as a profound spiritual cleanser that actually destroys deep karmic sins (such as Brahmahatya).
