Before You Begin
Choose a clean, peaceful, and spiritually uplifting place for the puja. Place an idol or picture of Lord Rama on a clean chowki or platform covered with the included Yellow Puja Cloth. Traditionally, devotees may also offer fresh flowers, fruits, Tulsi leaves, diya, sweets, or homemade prasad according to personal devotion and family customs.
Arrange all puja items neatly before beginning the worship. Light a diya or incense if available to create a calm and devotional atmosphere.
1. Prepare the Sacred Puja Space
Spread the Yellow Puja Cloth beneath the idol or picture of Lord Ram to create a traditional and respectful devotional Mandir (Puja Sthan/Ghar).
2. Purify the Puja Area
Sprinkle a few drops of Ganga Jal around the puja space and on yourself for spiritual purification. This ritual symbolizes cleansing the surroundings and inviting divine positivity.
3. Apply Tilak & Sacred Offerings
Offer devotion by respectfully applying:
• White Chandan Powder
• Red Roli Kumkum
• Turmeric Powder
• Vibhuti Bhasma
to the deity or near the Mandir (Puja Sthan/Ghar) according to family tradition. These sacred offerings symbolize purity, auspiciousness, devotion, and spiritual blessings.
Cultural Tip: Since Lord Rama belongs to the Suryavanshi lineage and is an avatar of Lord Vishnu, the Chandan tilak is traditionally applied in a vertical U-shape (Urdhva Pundra), symbolizing the footprint of the Lord.
4. Offer Sacred Threads
Respectfully offer or place the White Cotton Janeu Thread, Raksha Sutra, and White Moli Dhaga near the deity. These sacred threads traditionally symbolize purity, protection, spiritual discipline, and blessings.
5. Offer Akshat Rice, Wheat & Supari
Offer Akshat Rice, Wheat, and Supari before Lord Ram while praying for peace, prosperity, family harmony, righteousness, and divine blessings.
6. Offer Honey & Turmeric Root
Offer small symbolic amounts of Honey and Turmeric Root during the puja. These sacred offerings are traditionally associated with purity, prosperity, positivity, and auspiciousness.
7. Offer Fragrance & Incense
Light the Agarbatti and gently apply or sprinkle the included Attar around the puja area to create a peaceful, devotional, and spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
8. Offer Abir for Festive Devotion
Offer the colourful Abir powders near the deity or decorate the Mandir (Puja Sthan/Ghar) to create a vibrant devotional atmosphere during worship and festive occasions.
9. Light Kapoor & Perform Aarti
Light a small piece of Camphor (Kapoor) and perform aarti in clockwise circular motions before Lord Ram. Kapoor Aarti traditionally symbolizes removal of negativity and awakening of divine positivity.
10. Chant Ram Mantra & Conclude the Puja
Fold your hands and pray sincerely for peace, devotion, righteousness, protection, positivity, and family harmony.
You may chant:
“Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram”
Traditionally, devotees may chant this mantra 11, 21, or 108 times according to devotion and available time. Many devotees also recite Ram Raksha Stotra or passages from the Ramayana during worship.
Sit peacefully for a few moments after the puja and conclude with gratitude and devotion.
