Frequently Asked Questions
  • 1. I’ve never performed the ritual before; does this kit include everything I need?
  • Absolutely. The MySanatan Kit is designed as an all-in-one solution. From the symbolic threads (Rakhi and Raksha Sutra) to the purification elements like Rose Water and Agarbatti, you won't need to hunt for individual ingredients. Just bring your devotion and perhaps some favorite sweets to complete the ceremony!
  • 2. Why are there two types of threads (Rakhi and Raksha Sutra) in the kit?
  • While the Rakhi is the ornate centerpiece tied by a sister to her brother, the Raksha Sutra (Moli) is a sacred thread of protection. In many traditions, the Moli is tied first to sanctify the bond, or it can be tied on other family members to spread the spirit of protection and unity throughout the household.
  • 3. What is the significance of the "Yellow Mustard Seeds" included in the pack?
  • In Vedic traditions, Yellow Mustard Seeds (Peeli Sarson) are powerful symbols used to ward off negativity. During the ritual, they are often kept on the thali or sprinkled around the space to create a "protective shield" (Raksha Kavach), ensuring that only positive energy surrounds your sibling bond.
  • 4. How does the inclusion of both Akshat Rice and Paddy (Dhan) enhance the ritual?
  • While Akshat (unbroken rice) represents steadfastness and the "eternal" nature of the soul, Paddy (Dhan) symbolizes fertility, growth, and the harvest of prosperity. Using both during the Tilak ceremony invokes a holistic blessing for the brother—praying for both his spiritual character and his material success.
  • 5. Can the Rose Water be used for more than just fragrance?
  • Yes. In premium puja rituals, Rose Water (Gulab Jal) serves as a Shuddhikaran (purification) agent. Beyond sprinkling it on the Thali for its divine aroma, it is traditionally used to cleanse the hands before touching the sacred items, ensuring the ritual is performed with the highest level of physical and spiritual purity.
  • 6. Why is White Chandan included alongside the traditional Red Roli?
  • The combination of White Chandan (Sandalwood) and Red Roli (Kumkum) balances the energy of the Tilak. Roli symbolizes energy, heat, and the blood bond, while White Chandan provides a cooling effect, symbolizing peace and mental clarity. Together, they represent a balanced and harmonious life for your brother.
  • 7. Is the MySanatan Kit suitable for long-distance gifting?
  • Yes, the kit is curated with premium, leak-proof packaging for items like Rose Water and powders. It is specifically designed to stay intact during transit, making it an ideal gift to send to brothers who may be far from home, ensuring they feel the warmth of tradition wherever they are.
  • 8. What is the "best" time to use the Agarbatti provided?
  • We recommend lighting the Premium Agarbatti a few minutes before you begin the ceremony. This allows the fragrance to settle and "reset" the atmosphere of the room, transitioning it from a standard living space into a sanctified environment ready for the Raksha Bandhan prayers.
