Rash Purnima Puja Kit

  • Rash Purnima Puja is performed to seek the blessings of Radha Krishna for devotion, love, and spiritual fulfillment. It removes negativity and brings peace, prosperity, happiness, and divine grace into life.

  • Ras Purnima marks the night of the Ras Leela, the supreme cosmic dance of Lord Krishna and Radha, symbolizing the joyful union of the human soul with the Divine. Celebrating this festival intimately at home fills the household with profound unconditional love (Bhakti), spiritual ecstasy, and harmony. The Vedic NityaKarma beautifully reminds the householder that daily devotion is essential for holistic health: "Water purifies the body, truth the mind, knowledge the intellect and penance the soul".

  • This radiant, joy-filled household worship is performed on the evening of Kartik Purnima (the full moon day of the Hindu month of Kartik), when the moon is at its brightest and most magnificent.

  • Step 1 - Gandha (Sacred Paste): Lovingly adorn Radha and Krishna with the fragrant Ashtagandha, White Chandan, and Alta while chanting: "Om Gandhang Namah".
  • Step 2 - Pushpa (Flowers): Offer fresh flowers (sourced locally) at Their feet while chanting: "Om Pushpang Baushat".
  • Step 3 - Dhupa (Incense): Light the Agarbatti and wave the fragrant smoke before Them while chanting: "Om Dhupang Namah".
  • Step 4 - Deepa (Illumination): Light your lamps using the Cotton Wicks and Cow Ghee while chanting: "Om Deepang Namah".
  • Step 5 - Naivedya (Food Offering): Offer sweet food, fruits, and the Honey to the Divine Couple as a gesture of deep devotion while chanting: "Om Naivedyang Nivedayami".

  • Steps 1 & 2 (Asan & Swagat): Offering the beautiful Velvet Asan and welcoming the deities.
  • Steps 3, 4 & 5 (Padya, Arghya, Achamaniya): Purifying the deities' feet and hands, and offering sipping water using the Ganga Jal.
  • Step 6 (Madhuparka): Offering the auspicious honey-mixture to sweeten Their arrival.
  • Steps 7, 8 & 9 (Snaniya, Basan, Abharan): Bathing the deities with Rose Water, dressing Them, and adorning Them with divine ornaments (Abharan) including the Khukumoni Alta. The sacred vase (Ghat) is established using the Chandmalas and Cowrie Shells.
  • Steps 10, 11 & 12 (Gandha, Pushpa, Dhupa): Offering the Ashtagandha Chandan, fresh flowers, and lighting the Agarbatti.
  • Steps 13, 14 & 15 (Deepa, Naivedya, Achamaniya): Illuminating the space with lamps, offering a grand feast, and providing water to cleanse the mouth.
  • Step 16 (The Complete Tambula): There is absolutely no 16-step puja where Tambula is not mandatory. The mathematically perfect Tambula (Supari, Clove, Cardamom, Haritaki) must be offered to sweeten the deity's mouth as the 16th and final step.
  • Conclusion (Household Aarti & Purification): The ceremony concludes with a highly fragrant Aarti using the Metal Chawar, Pure Camphor, and burning the Guggal over the glowing Chhobra (Coconut Husk) to purify the home's atmosphere!

  • • Cultivates Unconditional Love & Harmony: Worshipping the Ras Leela naturally dissolves household tensions, replacing them with joy, laughter, and mutual affection.
  • • Spiritual and Environmental Purification: The burning of natural resins like Guggal over the coconut husk actively purifies the physical atmosphere of the home, clearing away negative energies.
  • • Cooling Physical Benefits: The application of the White Chandan (Sandalwood) and Ashtagandha to the foreheads of family members as a Tika has immense calming properties; Ayurvedic texts confirm Sandalwood actively reduces body heat and relieves stress.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Q1: Why does this kit specifically include "Khukumoni Alta," and how do we use it during the puja?
  • For Beginners & Families: Ras Purnima is the ultimate celebration of the Ras Leela—the joyful cosmic dance of Lord Krishna, Goddess Radha, and the Gopis! If you are performing the 16-step royal worship, the 9th step is called Abharan, which means offering divine ornaments. This is the beautiful moment where you use the bright red Khukumoni Alta to lovingly adorn the feet of Goddess Radha or the Gopis. It is a deeply traditional Eastern Indian symbol of supreme devotion, joy, and the festive spirit of the divine dance!
  • Q2: Since the Ras Leela is celebrated at night under the full moon, are there any specific directional rules we should follow at home?
  • For Experienced Devotees: Yes, there is a highly specific classical rule for nighttime worship! According to the Purohit Darpan, while daytime worship can generally be performed facing East or North, if a devotee is performing a divine rite at night, they must strictly perform it facing North ("রাত্রিতে দেবকার্য্য করিতে হইলে উত্তরমুখ হইয়া করিবে"). Positioning your household altar so that you face North during your evening Ras Purnima puja makes your setup perfectly scripturally accurate!
  • Q3: Why are there multiple types of Chandmalas (Small, Medium Ghat, and Hanging) included in this one kit?
  • For Decorators & Beginners: The Ras Leela is meant to be a visually breathtaking festival! While one traditional Chandmala is strictly required to establish the sacred vase (Ghat Sthapan) during the preliminary steps of the worship, the additional hanging Chandmalas are provided so you can beautifully decorate your home altar. They help recreate the radiant, moonlit atmosphere of the Vrindavan forest right in your living room!
  • Q4: We want to celebrate properly as a family. Are there any fasting rules for householders on Ras Purnima?
  • For Couples & Householders: Yes! Ras Purnima falls on a full moon, and the classical Apastamba Grhya Sutra explicitly instructs that the householder and their spouse should conjointly observe a fast on the days of the full moon and new moon. However, you do not need to starve! The scripture mercifully clarifies for householders that eating just one single meal in the morning is perfectly classified as a valid fast ("aupavastam eva kāla antare bhojanam"). This allows you and your spouse to spiritually prepare for the grand evening worship while maintaining your household energy.
  • Q5: What is the spiritual significance of the Natural Cowrie Shells provided in the kit?
  • For Cultural Enthusiasts: Cowrie shells originate from the ocean, making them profoundly sacred to Goddess Lakshmi (who emerged from the ocean and incarnated as Radha). Placing these auspicious Natural Cowrie Shells in or around your sacred vase (Ghat) during the initial setup is a deeply authentic Eastern tradition. It acts as a powerful spiritual magnet, attracting immense wealth, prosperity, and the boundless grace of the Divine Mother into your home!
